A long-established UK builders’ merchant brings its wall panels brand to a major home improvement marketplace

About the Company

  • Company: N&C Building Products Ltd T/A / IPSL
  • Industry: Building Materials & Home Improvement
  • Region: United Kingdom
  • E-commerce platform: Adobe Commerce (Magento 2)
  • New sales channel: B&Q Marketplace
  • Integration solution: M2E Multichannel Connect

Nicholls & Clarke is one of the UK’s oldest builders’ merchants, supplying building materials since 1875. The Group runs several specialist brands. One of them is Interior Panel Systems (IPSL), which sells bathroom and shower wall panels, hygienic cladding, ceiling panels, and waterproof flooring for homes and businesses.

IPSL run their online store on Adobe Commerce. That’s where the team manages the catalogue, pricing, and orders. The company’s strong product range and good customer service have made their website a steady sales channel. The next step for IPSL was to reach more buyers.

Challenge: Reaching Buyers Beyond Their Own Store

An online store has one limit: it can only sell to the people who find it. When looking for interior panels, more shoppers begin on the large home improvement marketplaces they trust, not on individual retailers’ sites.

B&Q Marketplace was the right place to expand. It’s one of the UK’s best-known home improvement retailers, and its Mirakl-based marketplace on diy.com offers access to the DIY and renovation shoppers that IPSL wanted to reach.

Adding a new marketplace usually means a second place to update prices and stock. IPSL wanted the opposite – to run their B&Q sales from the system they already maintained. They had a few requirements:

  1. Adobe Commerce as the single source of truth. The team didn’t want to manage B&Q in a separate place. They needed to keep their Magento system as the main hub for products, stock, and orders.
  2. Easy start. The setup had to be simple, not a long technical project that pulled focus away from running the business.
  3. Reliable order handling. Listing products is just the beginning. Orders from B&Q had to land in Magento so the team could fulfil them as usual.

Solution: Connecting Adobe Commerce to B&Q with M2E

IPSL chose M2E Multichannel Connect to link their Adobe Commerce store to B&Q Marketplace, and it delivered on all three requirements.

Setup and onboarding were quick and easy. The IPSL team installed the extension, connected the store, and began listing products from their Magento catalogue.

The M2E team also stayed involved beyond the initial setup. As IPSL launched the channel and started taking orders, the team worked with them to fine-tune the integration and resolve the issues with order import, getting B&Q orders into Magento as expected.

Integration Results

Within a couple of weeks, IPSL went live on B&Q Marketplace. Since the setup went smoothly, the team didn’t have to pause the rest of the business to make it happen.

Today, IPSL manage their B&Q listings and sales from their Adobe Commerce backend. B&Q orders arrive in Magento alongside direct sales, so the team picks, packs, and fulfils them the same way they always have.

From M2E team:

“When a business has a structured catalog and a clear goal, the rest comes together quickly. IPSL was a great example of that, which is why they launched on a major UK home improvement marketplace in a matter of weeks.”

Looking Ahead

With B&Q live and running through M2E Multichannel Connect, IPSL have a foundation to grow from. Because B&Q runs on Mirakl, IPSL can reuse the same setup for other Mirakl-based marketplaces, while M2E’s listing tools (such as category and attribute mapping) will reduce some of the manual work of listing products.

M2E continues to support IPSL, ready to refine the current integration or help launch the next channel when the brand decides to expand.
